Empowering parents to boost early brain development!
Help parents put The Basics Principles into action.
The Basics Insights messaging program helps parents and caregivers incorporate early childhood learning into everyday routines. Simple, science-based tips and activities support children’s social, emotional, and cognitive development from birth through age three.
How it Works
Parents and caregivers enroll under the sponsorship of a local organization (see below). They can choose to receive messages via text (SMS), WhatsApp, or The Basics app with additional features.
Each week users receive science-based messages linked to one of the five Basics Principles: a fact followed by activities to practice with their child.
Users are invited to complete periodic surveys to assess their progress.
Help every child reach their full potential
Parents and caregivers can enroll at any time to get customized tips and activities for birth through age three (available in English, Spanish, and Portuguese).
The Basics Integration
The messages can be used in combination with other The Basics materials such as videos and handouts from the The Basics Community Toolkit.
Based on the child’s age, the content gets more complex as the caregiver and child grow together.
Parents like it!
Most importantly, they take action: 84% report they try most of the activities and 72% talk about the messages with friends or relatives. 97% say they would recommend it.
And, as part of The Basics whole-community engagement approach, messages are topics for supportive conversations during routine visits with providers, such as nurses, doctors, or early educators.
